IJAMS RIVER RESCUE  SAT. APRIL 2.

River Rescue will be on Saturday April 2, 2016

This year marks Ijams Nature Center’s 27th annual River Rescue event. The community-wide annual event covers 40 different cleanup sites along the Tennessee River and associated creek tributaries. Each year, approximately 1,000 volunteers clean up tons of trash for our local waterways.

Volunteers for the Ijams River Rescue spend several hours helping to pick up trash and debris that is clogging and polluting Knoxville’s river and creeks. Volunteers may come as individuals or in a group, such as families, friends, corporate teams, scout troops, or church groups. Bags and gloves are provided to volunteers for the cleanup and each location has a “site captain” to assist volunteers.

For more information on how to volunteer for the Ijams River Rescue, please call 865-577-4717, ext. 135. All volunteers will receive a beautiful River Rescue t-shirt, featuring artwork from Ijams’ own author and artist Lyn Bales.  http://ijams.org/signature-events/river-rescue/
