The 2017 Scruffy City Film & Music Festival! Thursday, July 27 – Sunday, July 30

The 2017 Scruffy City Film & Music Festival will bring filmmakers and composers from all parts of the country to Knoxville July 27-30 for a four-day non-stop celebration of film and music at Scruffy City Hall in Market Square. The 2017 Official Selections include 46 films chosen from hundreds of submissions from over forty countries. This year’s selections were picked exclusively from the filmmaker and composer submissions. Of note, make sure to listen to WUTK to win a day pass for Friday, July 28 or Saturday, July 29 so you can catch these fine films:

No Roads In – Friday 7/28, 7pm at Scruffy City Hall: Witness the creation of an album of gritty and authentic country music, recorded with analog equipment in just five days in an abandoned Alberta farmhouse. Trailer.

The Crest – Saturday 7/29, 7pm, at Scruffy City Hall: Two long-lost cousins find each other through a family reunion trip to Ireland, where surfing and an old violin contribute to the rich tapestry of their family’s history. Trailer.

On Saturday, July 29th, get ready for a night of rock as we’re bringing you a triple bill, presented by your friends at WUTK! Nashville’s Soul/Funk/Rock band Alanna Royale join some Knoxville locals, the Punk Rock band Ex Gold and the Soul/Rock band Electric Darling, for a whirlwind performance at the 2017 Scruffy City Film & Music Festival! The show starts at 9:30 P.M and is 21+.

Our Friend and Brother, Antoine “Steely Mon” Williamson. Founding Member and Trumpet player forSoulfinger.

Antoine “Steely Bruno” Williamson was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung and Liver Cancer on May 3, 2017.
Following a growing pain in his neck, chest, shoulder and left arm, Antoine sought a Medical Diagnosis.
He was advised to have neck, chest and abdominal CT Scans and later received a brain MRI. Shortly after, he recieved a Liver biopsy, which confirmed the cancer originated in the Lungs and spread to the Liver.
2) Treatment-Cancer Treatment Centers of America
Antoine is currently enrolled as a Patient at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Newnan, GA. At CTCOA, he will be recieving Immunotherapy, Holistic Therapy, Pinpoint Radiation and Dietary Therapy.
3) Funds-Insurance Deductible, Max Out of Pocket and Expenses-Blue Cross of Alabama
Soulfinger-Soulfinger (Antoines’s Funk and Soul Band) will be donating Antoine’s Medical Deductible of $600. His Maximum Out of Pocket is $6,000. He will also be out of work as he travels from Chattanooga, TN to CTCOA in Newnan, GA. He needs these FUNDS as his treatment progresses over time. We would like maximize the Donation as soon as possible, but certainly by the end of 2017.

WUTK Fundraiser at The Basement Art Studio, 6:30 pm on Friday, July 28th

WUTK is teaming up the The Basement Art Studio to bring you a night of art and fundraising! The main event will be a game called “Roll-a-Picasso,” which will be finished up with watercolor. After the event, everyone gets to take home their art piece.

For $20, you can gain entry with whatever beer and wine you care to carry in with you; art supplies will be provided.

There will also be a raffle where you can win concert tickets and gift cards: $5 gets you 3 tickets.

Plus there will be pizza from Dazzo’s Pizzeria! Thanks to The The Basement Community Art Studio ! Spread the word and come on down. Invite your friends! You can order tickets online or just show up at the door on Fri. July 28th!
