The band started playing in 2011, playing mostly Christian music. Their debut EP First Fruits was themed around worship. The album was composed of blended folk and bluegrass styles.

Judah & the Lion released their first EP, Sweet Tennessee, on April 16, 2013, and it charted on the Billboard charts on May 4, 2013. The placements were at No. 2 on the Bluegrass Albums, No. 9 on the Heatseekers Albums, and at No. 15 on the Folk Albums. This album was more secular than First Fruits.

Judah & the Lion released their debut full-length studio album, Kids These Days, on September 9, 2014; it entered Billboard’s Heatseekers chart at No. 2 and the Folk Albums chart at No. 4 its first week out. The album garnered the No. 1 spot for Heatseekers in both the South Atlantic and South Central regions and the No. 4 spot for Heatseekers in East North Central, Mountain, and West North Central regions. In addition, Kids These Days entered several other Billboard charts, and their song “Kickin’ da Leaves” accumulated more than one hundred thousand streams since the September 9 release and made Spotify’s VIRAL 50 Chart alongside Meghan Trainor, Fall Out Boy, Betty Who, and Karen O among others.

The band released their second studio album, Folk Hop n’ Roll, on March 4, 2016. The album reached No. 2 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, No. 7 on the Billboard Americana/Folk Albums chart, and No. 17 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart.

In December 2016/January 2017, Judah & the Lion’s single, “Take It All Back”, reached the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart for three consecutive weeks.

New concert series “The Local” coming to UT Sept. 16th!! Featuring Knoxville bands … The Crumbsnatchers, High Heat and more.

The Local is a free concert series put on by Campus Events Board, the largest student programming organization at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. On September 16th, we will have live performances by Crumbsnatchers, High Heat, and Hardcastle. In addition, there will be food, games, prizes, and more brought to you by the local community! Come join us for some good music, fun, and to see what all Knoxville has to offer!

The first part of the series will be held at 7pm at Fred Brown Amphitheater! This year’s series will be held on September 16th and October 21st. More details coming soon! Visit CEB’s website for more info!!

The 2017 Scruffy City Film & Music Festival! Thursday, July 27 – Sunday, July 30

The 2017 Scruffy City Film & Music Festival will bring filmmakers and composers from all parts of the country to Knoxville July 27-30 for a four-day non-stop celebration of film and music at Scruffy City Hall in Market Square. The 2017 Official Selections include 46 films chosen from hundreds of submissions from over forty countries. This year’s selections were picked exclusively from the filmmaker and composer submissions. Of note, make sure to listen to WUTK to win a day pass for Friday, July 28 or Saturday, July 29 so you can catch these fine films:

No Roads In – Friday 7/28, 7pm at Scruffy City Hall: Witness the creation of an album of gritty and authentic country music, recorded with analog equipment in just five days in an abandoned Alberta farmhouse. Trailer.

The Crest – Saturday 7/29, 7pm, at Scruffy City Hall: Two long-lost cousins find each other through a family reunion trip to Ireland, where surfing and an old violin contribute to the rich tapestry of their family’s history. Trailer.
