The Spring 2018 UT Science Forum begins January 26 & will be held every Friday @ noon!

WUTK stays on the air with donations from listeners and the non-profit University of Tennessee College of Arts and Sciences and the UT Science Forum, a weekly Friday lunchtime lecture series on the UT campus.

On Friday, April 13, Karen Hughes, professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, will present “From the Ashes: The World of Fire Fungi”, at 12 p.m. in the Thompson Boling Area Café, Room A. This educational forum is free to the public, including UT students.

Cannabis Study: EARN MONEY as participant in new research study.

The University of Tennessee Center for Behavioral Health Research is currently seeking 100 participants for a study on text-based counseling for problematic marijuana use.

As part of the study, participants will complete surveys over 3 months about marijuana use, mental health, and friends, briefly participate in text message counseling and monthly surveys OR only complete monthly surveys, and attend 2 study visits on campus at Henson Hall.

To be eligible to participate, you must:

Be between 18 and 25 years old
Have problematic marijuana use (which will be determined by the study screening)
Have access to a text-message capable phone

All information collected from study participants is confidential and highly protected.

Participants will be compensated up to $150 over 3 months for their time and effort.

Join us for Round 9 of our 2017 Arcade Decathlon! This time, we are featuring Galaga on Thursday Nov. 16, 2017.
It’s the final installment of the Arcade Decathlon, a sweet Galaga tournament! Get that trigger finger warmed up, this is going to be intense!

This is a WUTK Fund Raising Event, with raffle tickets available to all – prizes include concert tickets, CDs and vinyl, local business gift certificates, and more! Every entry gets an automatic raffle ticket, but anyone can increase their odds and buy more!  Grand prize winner will win a 4-pack of tickets to any home Ice Bears game!

New concert series “The Local” coming to UT Sept. 16th!! Featuring Knoxville bands … The Crumbsnatchers, High Heat and more.

The Local is a free concert series put on by Campus Events Board, the largest student programming organization at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. On September 16th, we will have live performances by Crumbsnatchers, High Heat, and Hardcastle. In addition, there will be food, games, prizes, and more brought to you by the local community! Come join us for some good music, fun, and to see what all Knoxville has to offer!

The first part of the series will be held at 7pm at Fred Brown Amphitheater! This year’s series will be held on September 16th and October 21st. More details coming soon! Visit CEB’s website for more info!!
