Plasma is the clear, straw colored liquid portion of the blood that remains after the removal of cells and it makes up about 55% of human blood. It contains salts, enzymes, antibodies and nearly 500 other types of proteins. Plasma protein therapies help people fight chronic and often genetic diseases such as bleeding disorders, immune system deficiencies, genetic lung disorders, burns, recipients of transplants, and can be manufactured into vaccines for treatment of exposure to Hepatitis, Rabies and Tetanus. Plasma contains proteins that cannot be synthesized.

This year Open Streets takes place Sunday, October 9th from 2pm to 6pm!
Open Streets Website and Facebook Page!
Open Streets turns streets into safe, fun places for walking, bicycling, dancing, and other activities. During Open Streets Knoxville, the Homburg area in Bearden will be filled with people of all ages and abilities. The event provides them with a chance to walk, ride bicycles, hula hoop, and do zumba in the streets — all in a setting that is fun and safe. There will be free crossfit, yoga, and dance classes. Test your skills in a creative obstacle course, or play pickleball (after you learn what it is!). Stop by one of our fun photo booths. You can play with bubbles, or make a pennant banner to decorate the route.
What’s the route?
The route is a mile-long section within Bearden starting on Sutherland Ave. at Forest Heights Rd, west to Cemetery Rd., crossing over Kingston Pike on Mohican Rd. into the Homburg area. Click the map in the sidebar for detailed information.

On behalf of the students, staff, volunteers, and alumni of WUTK, we want to wish the family and friends peace during this time where we mourn the loss of Coach Pat Summitt with you. Coach Summitt was always very gracious with her time, more than once going out of her way to make herself available to be interviewed live by our students who hosted and produced Rock Solid Sports in the past. She taught us all life lessons that will never be forgotten, and we all have lost a member of our UT family.
We would like to encourage you to make a donation to the Pat Summitt Foundation, today, in Coach Summitt’s memory. Help us put the full court press on Alzheimer’s Disease by clicking on to PatSummitt.org, today, and making a Donation.
WUTK thanks you for your help as we honor the memory of the greatest coach, ever, Coach Pat Summitt. Go Lady Vols!
Listen to Fashion Pop! Thursdays at 3:40 pm. It’s where fashion and music collide. Learn the stories behind pop culture fashion. Hear the music that influenced fashion. Sponsored by Planet Xchange. Hosted by Beth Boline.
Buy. Sell. Trade. Clothes and Gifts! Planet Xchange online!
Listen to past shows here! Fashion Pop Pod Casts!
History is often made when pop culture influences fashion. But which came first? The Fashionista, or the fashion itself?
Ever wonder how much Andy Warhol had to pay for that famous shot? Or how artists like Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder, and Scott Weiland master grunge? Not only sound but a style.
Whether your style is ironic – or iconic – you can hear these incredibly interesting stories and more on Volunteer Radio, by listening to Fashion Pop. Every Thursday afternoon at 3:40.
Fashion Pop is sponsored by locally owned and operated Planet Xchange, Knoxville’s go-to for fashionable finds in the Gallery Shopping Center at 7240 Kingston Pike.
Planet Xchange owner, Beth Boline, does a great job telling stories about when fashion and pop collide, paired with cool tunes that have their own fashion tie-in.
Thanks to you, and The UTK Alumni Association’s VOLstarter campaign WUTK is going to be able to replace our Foam Tile. THANK YOU @tennalum & donors! We are going to replace our studio Foam Tile! $2605 Raised!
We are going to replace our studio Foam Tile! $2605 Raised! Thank you.
Help support WUTK 90.3 Volunteer Radio replace our decaying sound paneling in the studio!
We here at WUTK 90.3 The Rock, also known as UT’s College of Rock, are an independent, non-commercial college radio station owned by the University of Tennessee and operated by the UT Department of Journalism and Electronic Media. We rely on donations and community support for expensive repairs and equipment upgrades.
We are in need of new sound paneling for our facility, which functions by eliminating common acoustic issues such as unwanted echoes, excessive bass and standing waves. By purchasing and installing this paneling, not only will the quality of the station’s programming improve, but so will the work environment for the student DJs, guest artists, and more who visit the station on a daily basis.
UT’s Department of Journalism and Electronic Media uses the radio station as a learning tool for students interested in radio broadcast to gain practical experience. Your donation directly impacts the more than 75 students that operate, DJ, broadcast, and learn at the radio station each semester!
We would love your help in making a dire repair at the station – watch this video for more information! VOLstarter WUTK campaign
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR DONORS THUS FAR! On our “Hero Day”, we raised the first $1000 with the Alumni Association matching the first 100 donations. We can’t stay on the air without you! Keep the momentum going, and Donate here!
Thanks for listening, as always!
