UT's College of Communication is Celebrating Diversity and wants you to join in!
90.3 The Rock is proud to be a part of the College of Communication’s Diversity and inclusion week titled “Empowering and Celebrating Yourself and Others.” The CCI Diversity Week is this week, September 19th through 22nd. Panels hosted by CCI professors and guests will be held each day in the Communications building discussing various topics regarding diversity in today’s society. Diversity Week kicks off with a special Keynote Address by four-time Olympian Joetta Clark Diggs entitled “Determined to Reach Your Destiny.” The address will be held in McClung Museum Auditorium on Monday, September 19th at 6 pm.
WUTK’s General Manager and Program Director Benny Smith, will be moderating a panel titled “Breaking Boundaries Through Music,” on Thursday, September 22nd. The panel includes local hip hop artists and slam poets Black Atticus and Lane Shuler, longtime local musician and WUOT Jazz Program Director Todd Steed, and UT School of Journalism and Electronic Media Assistant Professor Erin Whiteside. This Thursday’s afternoon session takes place from 3:40 to 4:55 p.m. in room 321 in the College of Communications and Information auditorium. The Diversity Festival closes Diversity Week on Thursday, September 22nd in Circle Park from 5 pm to 7 pm. The Festival features an all-campus barbecue, with diverse music, dance and performances. CCI student organizations, such as Ad Club, Communication Studies Club, Diversity Student Leaders Society, Public Relations Student Society of America, and Society of Professional Journalists, will be participating in the event. WUTK will also be having a live remote at the Festival.
