KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Lady Vols (1-0) are set to take on Bowling Green (0-2) in the second leg of the Tennessee Classic Saturday morning at Thompson Boling Arena. The match begins at 11 A.M. EST.
The Lady Vols officially started their season Friday night against Loyola Chicago in their first match of the Tennessee Classic. Three of the five sets were determined by three points or less, but Loyola had no help from Sister Jean in the fifth set as the Lady Vols went on to win the match 3-2.
Bowling Green hasn’t been as fortunate in the Tennessee Classic. The Falcons lost in straight sets yesterday morning against No. 13 Purdue and fell 3-1 yesterday afternoon against Loyola Chicago. Though they’ve hung in every set so far, it’s been a struggle for the Falcons to survive in crunch time, something they look to do today against a tough Tennessee attack.
One key player for the Falcons is setter Hanna Laube. Laube has the vast majority of the Falcons’ assists in the first two matches, showing her willingness to get her hands dirty for her team. She was part of the 2021 All-MAC Second Team and was the 2020-21 MAC Co-Setter of the Year.
A key player to watch for the Lady Vols is right side Morgahn Fingall. Fingall led the team in kills Friday night vs Loyola Chicago with 24 and had a team-high six blocks to go with it. Expect her to make another big impact today.
