For Tennessee Receivers, it’s “No Competition”, Just Win

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — All Tennessee fans know that this year’s football team is a special group.

Whether you see them celebrating with each other after a touchdown or maybe you’ve seen pictures of the players coaching each other on the sidelines, either way, you can tell how connected they truly are. Specifically, the wide receiver room is very connected, and that speaks volumes as to why they are having so much success this season.

“No competition, we’re just trying to win a football game,” said the senior wide-out Chris Brazzell.

This sentiment speaks numbers to how united this Tennessee football team is this season and specifically this wide receiver room as a whole. There was a lot of speculation in the media about who would step up and if the receiver core could make an impact for the Volunteers this season, and all year long, they have delivered.

This comment comes from the wide receiver who is leading the nation in receiving touchdowns with six so far this season, perhaps a reason to brag or get a big head, but he is humble, an attitude that is also shared by the rest of the players in his position group.

“It’s good, when we’re on the field, we’re making plays,” said sophomore receiver Braylon Staley. “That’s the best thing about that room, we’re making plays.”

This Tennessee room has definitely been making plays this whole season. All three of Tennessee’s starting wide receivers have over 250 receiving yards and at least two receiving touchdowns on the season.

This idea of no competition between each wide receiver in this room has truly been a benefit, as they have all performed at an extremely high level this season, and look to continue to do so, especially in a hostile environment this weekend.
