By Lohan Sutton

After a dramatic finish, Lance Simpson claimed second place this week at the Fighting Irish Classic.

This is Simpson’s highest career finish with the Volunteers.

During his final round, Simpson would card the lowest final round score in the field and found himself in a three-way tie for first, at six-under par. In the second playoff, Simpson would lose to North Carolina’s Carson Bertagnole.

As a team, the Volunteers finished the tournament 12-over and in a tie for sixth place.

Jackson Herrington was the second-highest finisher for the Vols in a tie for 29th, coming in at 5-over par for the tournament.

Josh Hill and Reed Lotter would also finish inside the top 50 for the tournament.

Bruce Murphy had a consistent week, shooting 3-over for all three rounds. Murphy would finish just outside the top 50.

The freshman Chase Kyes rounded off the Vol lineup, finishing 13-over par.
