KNOXVILLE, Tenn—The No.18 Lady Vols unleashed their scoring potential against the Winthrop Eagles in a 112-40 victory on Sunday
This marks the largest scoring game of the season, and the Lady Vols shot 54.5% from the field and 38.1% from three-point range.
Tennessee’s Janiah Barker scored her 1,000th career point in the matchup. Barker finished the game with 20 points and 10 rebounds, marking her second double-double of the season.
“It was a better offensive performance,” said head coach Kim Caldwell.
The shot selections during the game were high-quality, and the ball movement created space on the offensive end.
Freshman Mia Pauldo was another Tennessee top performer with 18 points, three rebounds, and 10 assists. This was Pauldo’s career high in assists with the program.
“Teammates find trust in me,” said Pauldo regarding her success in sharing the ball.
Tennessee made 16 three-pointers, which tied the second-highest in program history.
Other top performers include Nya Robertson, Talaysi Cooper, and Alyssa Latham.
On the defensive side, the Lady Vols forced a staggering 30 turnovers, led by Pauldo’s four steals.
Tennessee also had an impressive day rebounding with 54 rebounds total. This marks a program high for the Lady Vols. On the offensive side, the rebounds led to quality second-chance point opportunities.
Overall, this was a dominant performance on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. The team seems to be finding its rhythm as it approaches the holiday break.
Following the win, Tennessee’s record moves to 7-2.
The Lady Vols will be back in action on Dec. 20 as they travel to New York City for a clash with Louisville in the Shark Beauty Women’s Champions Classic.
