KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Lady Vols (2-2-1) are set to take on Kennesaw State (1-4-1) Thursday night at Regal Soccer Stadium. Match kicks off at 6:30 P.M. EST.
The Lady Vols won in dominant fashion against Tennessee Tech on Sunday. Jordan Fusco, Jaida Thomas, Mackenzie George, Abbey Burdette, Taylor Huff, and Macaira Midgley all contributed goals as the Lady Vols blanked the Golden Eagles 7-0. The Lady Vols had 13 shots on goal as opposed to Tennessee Tech’s four and had eight corner kicks to Tennessee Tech’s one.
Kennesaw State is coming off the wrong side of a 7-0 rout against Georgia. The Owls were outshot 31-7 and only one of those seven shots was on goal. Unlike Tennessee, Kennesaw State’s opening stretch has been against unranked competition, with its lone win coming on the road against Presbyterian.
Some key players to watch for the Owls are forwards Stella Allen and Macie Rainwater.
Allen has two goals in the first six games of her college career, making an early impact for her team. Rainwater has also scored a pair of goals to start the season. She brings valuable experience to the lineup as she was a member of the 2021 ASUN All-Freshman team and led the Owls in scoring in 2021.
For the Lady Vols, look out for midfielder Jordan Fusco and forward Jaida Thomas.
Fusco netted a pair of goals in Sunday’s win and hopes to continue the trend tonight. Thomas has scored at least once in each of the last four matches so look for her to lead the charge once again.
