KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – One Knoxville Sporting Club (2-2-2) is set to take on the Northern Colorado Hailstorm Football Club (1-2-1) alongside the train tracks at Regal Soccer Stadium in a match slated for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday night.
One Knoxville SC is coming off a 0-0 draw at home in their last time out against Forward Madison where the team fought hard and had plenty of good chances, but just found trouble finishing in front of the net. This has unfortunately been a growing trend for this team with only five goals in six matches of league play. Their last four matches have only seen two goals for, and the team has only scored two goals on one occasion, their first match of the season against Lexington. However, the team has proven a very strong defensive unit posting two shutouts in a row.
Despite the offensive struggles, the team has still played well as a unit, the boys in blue currently sit at seventh on the league table.
The Northern Colorado Hailstorm hailing from Windsor is coming off a 3-2 loss to Union Omaha away from home. The team’s Stefan Lukic picked up an unfortunate red card in the fifteenth minute, yet despite this, the team was still able to get 17 shots off and two goals from their star man Trevor Amann. This is the team’s second loss in a row after dropping a match in the second round of the US Open Cup against the MLS side Colorado Rapids.
Northern Colorado sits 10th on the league table but has only played four matches so far this season in USL1 play. The side will be points-hungry in this one as they attempt to catch up to the rest of the league.
The matchup provides an intriguing contest as Northern Colorado is a good counterattacking side, but One Knox plays a more possessing style with their passing game. The match will be a contest between the two opposing schools of thought as both managers look to get their clubs trending in the right direction at a critical juncture in the season.
One Knoxville’s next match will be against the Chattanooga Red Wolves on Tuesday, May 16th at 7 p.m. ET in Regal Soccer Stadium.
