The Lady Vols Get a Dominating Bounce-back Win Over Auburn.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 15th-ranked Lady Vols get back on track with a dominant win over the Auburn Tigers 99-61 at the Food City Center.

While it took a while for the Lady Vols to get it clicking on offense initially, they ended up getting their first lead at 2:35 in the first quarter. With 21 seconds left in the first, they took back the lead that they wouldn’t relinquish. After the end of the first quarter, the Lady Vols went on a 76-41 run, including a 28-7 run in the fourth quarter alone.

This win was a team effort for the Lady Vols. Jewel Spear was the leading scorer with 17 points, and five Lady Vols had points in the double figures, and 10 had scored this game. Everyone on the team made an impact when it came to scoring.

The defense was suffocating as well, as the Lady Vols only held Auburn to 61 points. They also had seven steals and 33 rebounds.

The key to winning this game was the shooting, where as a team the Lady Vols shot 56% from the field, and 50% from three.

Head Coach Kim Caldwell had this to say about ending the game on the 19-2 run: “I think we had great energy, and that helped, and I think they got tired.”

The Lady Vols’ next game takes place on Sunday, February 16th as they take on the Ole Miss Rebels at the Food City Center.
