The Tennessee men’s golf team claimed a tie for fourth at the Cabo Collegiate, led by sophomore and U.S. Amateur runner-up Jackson Herrington.
Tennessee continues to add to its impressive season, which started with a win at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate and top-5 finishes at the Puerto Rico Classic and Cabo Collegiate.
Out of the gate, the No. 18 Volunteers struggled to keep up with the pack in round one. They finished the day even-par as a team, and in eighth place.
Bruce Murphy led the charge for Tennessee in round one with a 2-under-par. Murphy is coming off a win at the Coach Sykes Individual.
Volunteer freshman Chase Kyes, playing as an individual, also started strong at 2-under-par. Kyes carded just one bogey in his opening round.
At the conclusion of round one, No. 11 Oklahoma State held the lead at 4-under-par. The field was close with No. 9 Arkansas and No. 7 Arizona State one stroke behind.
Round two would bring out some low scores in the field. Herrington carded an impressive 4-under-par, and teammate Josh Hill finished 2-under-par.
The Volunteers finished round two 4-under-par as a team to move up to sixth place.
Arkansas dominated round two with an impressive 14-under-par to take the lead by three strokes over Oklahoma State.
The dark horse of the field, Rice University, charged up to third with a 6-under-par in round two.
The Volunteers Luke Smith, Hill, and Herrington all finished round three 2-under-par. Hill bounced back after starting his round three with a double-bogey. Herrington carded only one bogey in his final round.
Tennessee finished round three at 4-under-par to bring their overall score to 8-under-par, tied with Ole Miss.
Oklahoma State was able to overtake the three-stroke Razorback lead in the final round. The Cowboys carded 8-under-par to jump to 22-under-par to edge out Arkansas by one-stroke.
Rice University held steady to claim a third-place finish at 10-under-par.

Oklahoma State junior Preston Stout dominated the tournament, finishing 15-under-par through three rounds. His play was highlighted by an impressive 8-under-par in round two.
Herrington finished inside the top-10 with a final score of 6-under-par. In just over a month, we will see Herrington make his Masters Tournament debut.
