KNOXVILLE, Tenn.— The Lady Vols soccer team (1-2-1) is set to play host to in-state rival Tennessee Tech (1-2-2) at Regal Soccer Stadium Sunday night at 7 P.M. EST.
The Lady Vols are coming off of their first win of the season, and first under new head coach Joe Kirt, against Bowling Green where they racked up four goals in convincing fashion with senior Lindsey Romig and redshirt freshman Ally Zazzara combining for the shut out in net.
Tennessee’s redshirt Junior Jaida Thomas will be one to look out for as always in this matchup after picking up a brace in the previous match. Teammates Taylor Huff, sophomore, and Jenna Stayart, redshirt freshman, also netted goals and will look to build on their success.
Tennessee Tech is currently on a three match unbeaten streak that featured one win and two draws. In the draws, the Golden Eagles managed to secure the equalizer in the final ten minutes of both matches.
The Lady Vols will look to use this game to continue to build momentum after a bit of a skid early on in the season. Conference play looms on the horizon for the Tennessee in mid September and they will have two more non-conference matchups after Sunday’s game with Tennessee Tech.
The Lady Vols are 1-0 all time against the Golden Eagles, and will look to get their second win on Sunday night.
